Being with Negative Emotions

In working with high performers I often hear “I just want to get rid of it”/ “I just don’t want it there” in terms of negative emotions. As someone that has been a high performer in sport, work, & business my entire life I can understand wanting to find a way to quickly get rid of the discomfort so that you can go back to your goals.  In addition the online space has demonized any type of emotion other than positive, high vibe, to the point that anything else is viewed as “bad” or broken, requiring a quick affirmation to fix you.

And this works until it doesn’t.

Right now, what I am seeing in the online space is that we are being conditioned to work through the whispers in favour of the flashy launches, big months, & constant doing (hidden behind feminine flow) & it is leading to a lot of nervous system burnout.

Yet, don’t be fooled.  People are STILL pushing through the burnout to shatter that glass ceiling, prove themselves, hold on to patterns that no longer serve, gain the identity they think they need to be seen as “successful”, & more (all not self states of the open centres).  When simply asking “what do YOU want?” I often get a confused look back as many aren’t able to connect into what the body wants; and if they do they get parts of self finally having a chance to be heard rather than self in presence knowing.

What we have currently is patriarchy in a dress.  And it is no more healthy for the mind, body, & soul than the corporate type shattering glass ceilings at any cost, including their health, sanity, & their unique gifts & path.

And the truth is, everything will eventually bubble up & it begins to impact your sport, with injuries, work with self sabotage, & it begins to bleed into every facet of life.  I have worked with multiple high performing entrepreneurs who developed auto-immune disease & were told they would “just have to manage it because it is lifelong”, yet through our work together they shocked doctors when their labs suddenly started coming back with no markers of inflammation.

The body keeps score, even if you try to ignore it & it will speak in whatever way it can to get your attention.

In the online space there is also a push to label the “parts” of self with names that are light hearted & almost mocking those parts.  Dismissing, rejecting, or even trying to fix, only pushes those parts deeper into the psyche, unable to trust you in the now, eventually the patterns of self sabotage, negative self talk, pain, etc, will have to be dealt with, as that part isn’t “Sally”, it is YOU & you have very important things that need to be heard so that you can move forward in alignment & embodied.

Dealing with negative emotions isn’t necessarily fun but it will change everything for you.  Your negative emotions, your shadows, hold the key to the most transformational paths you will walk on this Earth.  When we can sit with them & validate them to see that they too have good reasons, we can begin the process of moving forward in wholeness.

So next time, instead of ignoring them, or giving them a funny name, sit, hand on heart (or over the place of tightness/ restriction), and say “I see you, and I am ready to hear you”.

AND if you require long term support seek long term support, rather than the quick fixes or 1 off sessions.  In the consulting side of my business (BG5 Certified Business Consultant with the Jovian Archive/ Official HD School) I often see people coming to a consulting session that require long term support, healing, slowing down, & alignment.  Strategy & consulting won’t fix an inner bleed & any strategy placed on top of misalignment will be built on a broken foundation, eventually crumbling through self sabotage patterns.
