Embodied Leadership Using Energy

Leadership…

I lead all four of my horses in from the paddock at once.

One is a pony (says enough- mind of his own), one a weanling who is ultimately still new to the whole “thing”, the other 2 year old (coming 3) Loki who lives up to the name, & Monty who has his moments of panic if something is where it shouldn’t be.

I lead with little problems, and if there is I am able to correct it quickly without the situation spiraling.  

How?

My energy.

We could argue that it is because they know me, but horses can know you & not want you to lead them.  Monty is very particular on who he allows to lead him & even top trainers in Canada have been unable to catch him in the field.

We could also argue that it is due to experience, I have a history working with the top sport horses in Canada, & yet that isn’t the answer either.  My husband leads horses on a loose lead line that other, highly experienced, people have difficulty with.  He isn’t a horse person & doesn’t know the first thing about working with horses, yet they quietly follow.

I have facilitated Equine Assisted Therapy programs with Canadian Mental Health Association & the truth is:  All they see, and know, is “can you get me from here to there safely… do I trust you to do that?”.

And THIS is the same energy you bring to your copy, to your sales pages, to your live videos, etc.

Your energy speaks before you do- Can people trust you to solve their problems & get them to where they desire to go?

❌ In the not self you give off static & are not using the wisdom you gained through your openness, therefore the answer is no, and business will be harder than it needs to be.

❌ If you refuse to lead, draw the line in the sand, & claim your expertise, not because of perfection (wounded maiden) but from grounded trust in who you are, then likely your audience also isn’t so sure that they can trust you.

Going back to the parallel with horses:

🎠 If I refused to lead, Monty, the herd leader, would NOT follow. I would be lucky to get him out of the field… This is where maybe you are getting interest but money objections or unqualified leads.  The leaders aren’t willing to be led by you.

🎠 If I refused to lead, but had the guts to halter them all & step out of the paddock, I can all but guarantee all hell would break loose.

🎠 If I panicked while walking & thought “oh shit, I can’t do this” (As so many do as their business grows or during a launch) they would stop trusting me & stop following me- again all hell would break loose…. And this is where so many start a launch, numbers aren’t what they expected in the first 5 minutes, so they panic & drop the energy.

This doesn’t mean I have to have all the answers, as my husband demonstrates constantly when he leads horses with no experience.

It is the energy.

The intention.

The presence within the moment.

Kindness & yet strength at the same time.

Trust in yourself that overflows into trust from others.

YOU do not have to have all the answers.

YOU do not have to be perfect.

Yet you must lead yourself first so others are willing to be led by you.

This can be a sticky area to look at when scaling our business- where is the disconnect in your own energy & self leadership that is causing the static in your message & conversion in launches…

But energy always comes before strategy.  I can guarantee that. And THIS is one of my favourite things to help clients untangle.
