I often see clients in my programs or masterminds desire to launch memberships. Usually the reasoning is:
❌I have a small audience.
❌It is something people can afford/ will pay.
❌It is easier to sell low ticket items.
And a big reason this is something that is believed is because numbers (in terms of stats) are rarely spoken about in the online space. This is always so obvious when I see people beating themselves up over 10 people signing up for a free workshop and only 1 or 2 people signing up for the program on the back end.
Great launch stats are about 2-5% conversion from the initial YES to enter a funnel to the final YES of the sale.
Yes. 2-5%.
Research shows: “The average funnel conversion rate of most businesses is 3%. If your conversion rate is under 2%, then maybe you should start conducting funnel analysis to see where it needs improvement. A funnel conversion rate above 2% is considered good, and a rate between 3.1% to 5% is great.”
Therefore, if you have a smaller audience a membership may NOT be the best thing to offer.
Say, for example, you are desiring to create 10k recurring income on a $50 membership. You would need 4000 people to say YES to the initial funnel to have 10K recurring income…
And this isn’t even speaking about the payment plan issues you may run into & the customer service demand of receiving 200 clients overnight into the business.
In fact, payment issues have caused me to bleed money in my membership as staff chase down people whom are ghosting or simply having issues with PayPal.
Price for the TRANSFORMATION & create a pathway for your clients that makes sense for both you & them. Sure that pathway may shift & adjust as you grow, and as you grow you can then place certain things into Evergreen funnels to STILL make money off of it!
